SOLVED: A calorimetry experiment was conducted by adding 0.252 g of magnesium to 100.0 mL of 1.00 M hydrochloric acid solution in a foam cup. The temperature was initially 23.08 °C and the maximum temperature attained was 34.51 °C. Determine the heat of reaction, ΔH, in Joules and the enthalpy of reaction, ΔHr, in kJ/mol. Assume the solution has a density of 1.00 g/mL and a specific heat of 4.18 J/g·°C.
