This short film shows the sailing barge Drifter (I believe she is a tjalk) raising her mast after leaving the boatyard. I thought you might enjoy seeing how traditional Dutch boats managed those pivoting masts. I had a small boat with that system on it way back when and it was a real pleasure to sail the canals of Amsterdam dropping the mast - sails and all - to drift under a bridge then hoist it all back up again... all without leaving the tiller.
