Mole Removal Many patients are bothered by the appearance of their moles, especially on the face. There are three primary methods that we employ for mole removal: surgical excision, shave removal, and pigment lasers. In this instance, we used the shave removal method. After a numbing injection, we simply shaved down the mole with a surgical blade. You can see the immediate result in this patient where the mole appears to be completely removed. Moles are rarely seen above ground, but will occasionally venture out into the open for short distances! Their main reasons for doing this are to search for plant material to line their nest, or to search for food when the soil is dry and invertebrates are scarce.
