This morning a 3.500 tonne steel jacket from Aker BP’s Valhall field was delivered for recycling at Aker Solutions’ decommission facilities at Stord. 100 percent of the steel will be reused. The recycling of steel from decommissioned oil platforms represents a significant contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions compared with ordinary steel production. The jacket was delivered by Pioneering Spirit, the world’s largest construction vessel. | Aker Solutions

This week the Fenris jacket arrived from Aker Solutions in Verdal to the Fenris offshore field in the Valhall area and was installed on the sea bottom by the giant lifting vessel Sleipnir from Heerema Marine Contractors It went according to plan and the jacket is being fastened by 68-meter-long piles.
