“Roger”… it’s a word that often gets misused. As pilots, we can sometimes say “Roger” to verify that a transmission was received, but it is not a blanket way to confirm what, exactly, was received. ATC does, in fact, want to know that we heard what they said. The best way for us to do that is to read back correctly.
