The agar sandwich method is a great way to remove bacteria from a mushroom culture on agar plates. The method is pretty straightforward, just pour warm sterilized agar overtop of the contaminated agar culture you are trying to clean. The mycelium will grow through the top layer of agar but the bacteria will stay in the middle layer. This leaves us the opportunity to transfer the surface mycelium to a new plate ensuring the removal of bacteria. Recommended supplies: Nutrient agar powder 100 grams
