I finally found a modelling paste I actually love and it’s made the biggest difference to my blooms 🌸✨ It gives my petals smoother blends, cleaner ridges and such a soft, dimensional finish. The biggest difference for me was consistency. This paste stays thick enough to hold ridges, but smooth enough to glide through. No secret here! For my texture paste, I have three options: 1. Joint compound, modelling paste, and acrylic paint. Or 2. Joint compound neat. Or 3. Joint compound with PVA wood glue. The majority of my mix is always joint compound. I decide on the day which mix I feel like using. I always keep my paste hydrated with a spray of water and seal it with interior house paint afterwards. Let me know if this was helpful! This Baby Shower cake was an 8” 4 layer Raspberry & White Chocolate cake, crumb coated in Belgian white chocolate ganache and finished in @saracinodolci fondant icing. I rarely do fondant covered cakes & fondant modelling as it’s not really my comfort zone (I’m a buttercream gal)!
