The CSX fleet of heritage locomotives is continuing to grow with the introduction of CSX 1871 painted in a custom design honoring the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad (ACL). First appearing in 1871, the ACL was officially incorporated in 1900 and extended from Georgia to Richmond, Virginia, and later into Florida. The Western Maryland was a small but mighty railroad that hauled coal and freight in Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania before merging with the B&O and C&O to eventually become part of CSX as we know it today.
