Tropical cyclone, an intense circular storm that originates over warm tropical oceans and is characterized by low atmospheric pressure, high winds, and heavy rain. Also called typhoons and hurricanes, cyclones strike regions as far apart as the Gulf Coast of North America, northwestern Australia, and eastern India.

TROPICAL CYCLONE BULLETIN NR. 4 Tropical Depression #BasyangPH Issued at 5:00 PM, 04 February 2026 Valid for broadcast until the next bulletin at 11:00 PM today. “BASYANG” IS NOW MOVING WESTWARD OVER THE PHILIPPINE SEA EAST OF MINDANAO. Location of Center (4:00 PM): The center of Tropical Depression BASYANG was estimated based on all available data at 655 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (8.7°N, 132.3°E). Intensity: Maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km
