Hyperreflexia happens when your skeletal muscles have an increased or overactive reflex response. In this clinical methods video, we elicited ankle and knee reflexes which are exaggerated as the patient was suffering from spastic quadreparesis.

Hyperreflexia Causes
Complete Spinal Cord Lesion –🧠🦴 Complete spinal cord lesion means total loss of motor and sensory function below the level of injury with NO sacral sparing (S4–S5). Patients initially develop spinal shock → flaccid paralysis, areflexia, and bowel/bladder loss, followed later by spastic paralysis, hyperreflexia, and positive Babinski. Causes include severe trauma, tumors, ischemia, or transverse myelitis. Diagnosis is by MRI spine and ASIA Grade A. Management focuses on immobilization, possible
