Combining processes is a great way to resurrect prints that were not quite as I wanted them! When I work with plants through monoprinting, I’m not aiming to preserve them exactly as they were. The image shifts from plant, to impression. When I then layer that over an imperfect lino print, I’m accepting that the work will change again. I’m trying not to be precious with the results. 🌸I like to celebrate all the new beginnings in nature, but there are also what feel like endings, all part of our continuous cycle I know but I often feel that I want to hold on to them. This magnolia flower was blown from a tree and is very much past its best, They start to break down and the sap mixes with the ink to create a watercolour effect. ✨Sometimes I am completely amazed by the gorgeousness of the monoprints I make… and this one was a complete delight… I thought it would be a real challenge but it was fairly easy to print and the detail is incredible almost photographic even the little hairs on the stem printed 💚. 🌿The meadows are at their best at the moment and I have a large patch of marsh woundwort in one field (Stachys palustris), also commonly known as hedgenettle.
