The journey of drawing a willow tree. These willows can take anywhere from 60 hours to 500 hours, depending on the size of the piece. So much intricate detailed is poured into these original drawings. Here’s a view of a few of my favourites from the last two years, many of which have been collected. “Willow IV” is now available at www.annawilsonart.ca 🤍 (link in bio) I began drawing these giant, majestic trees in the summer of 2022 when I was living at my family’s cottage for the summer. We have an ancient willow on the farm, at the very top of the hill, that has dramatic, sweeping boughs and hundreds of thousands of tiny leaves. This was the very first time I drew a willow tree, spending weeks and weeks on the cottage porch depicting every tiny leaf. I haven’t stopped drawing trees since.
